CCTV Street Surveillance

street-surveillance
In this day and age, CCTV and security surveillance systems are prevalent throughout all walks of life; and it is all about crime prevention (in its widest sense of the term).

Whether you are drawing money out of a bank or simply taking a stroll along the beach; you are being watched whether you like it or not. In most cases it is for your own protection. If you are mugged whilst taking money out of an ATM, then if you are lucky, the whole incident could have been ‘caught on film’ by the camera hidden inside the machine. Similarly if your ATM card is stolen and used by someone else, the camera will likewise capture their image for posterity - and so it works both ways.

Take a look around you. You’ll be surprised how much surveillance is going on. If you’re a motorist you should know these things for reasons of safety and your bank-balance. Try and jump a red-light or drive at 35mph in a built up area and within a week you’ll have a fixed-penalty demand on your doormat or even worse, a court order. Tempted to fill-up with petrol (it’s around £1 a litre now) and drive off without paying - there’s no around that will notice or so you believe, but hey ‘Smile – you’re on Candid Camera’ - your car has just been photographed in all its glory. Now just drive home and wait for another postal delivery!!

The following sections of this website look at some of the security surveillance techniques in action today.
